How to access disability support services without NDIS
For: People with disability who need support but are not NDIS eligible
If you are not eligible for NDIS or are waiting for your plan, there are still support services available for people with disability in the Mallee.
Check if you are actually NDIS eligible
Many people think they’re not eligible when they are. NDIS eligibility: you have a permanent and significant disability, you’re under 65, and you’re an Australian resident. MDAS disability team can help check: (03) 5018 4100.
State-funded disability services
While waiting for NDIS, some state-funded services may be available. Contact the Mildura PHN (Primary Health Network) on (03) 5018 8100 to ask about state-funded disability services in the Mallee.
Carers support
If you care for someone with disability, Carer Support Mallee: (03) 5023 9900. Carers Victoria: 1800 242 636. These can provide respite, information, and support for carers.
Equipment and assistive technology
Independent Living Centre Victoria: 1800 452 286. They can advise on equipment that might help with daily living. Some equipment is available through MyAgedCare for people over 65, or through state programs for under 65.
Aged care if you’re over 65
If you’re over 65 and have a disability, you may be able to access aged care services through My Aged Care: 1800 200 422. MDAS aged care team can also help navigate this: (03) 5018 4100.
