How to access this service
Who can use it: Australian residents needing government payments
What to do: Walk in β no appointment needed, but mornings are quieter. Ask for an Indigenous Service Officer at reception. Bring ID (Medicare, birth cert, or bank card is fine to start). If your payment is cut off, ring 132 316 before you go in.
Swan Hill Centrelink has Indigenous Service Officers who know the system and will sit with you properly. Use 132 316 (Indigenous line) rather than the general Centrelink line β it's faster and the workers there are trained in culturally safe service.

Services Australia β Indigenous Call Centre
Covers: Statewide
Dedicated Centrelink & Medicare line for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Help with new claims, payment problems, ABSTUDY, and remote area services.
How to access this service
Who can use it: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
What to do: Ring 132 316. Have your Centrelink Reference Number (CRN) if you have one β if not, they'll sort it out. Workers here can take longer with you than the regular line, use language support, and won't cut your payment without talking to you first.
**Always use 132 316 instead of the general Centrelink line.** Shorter waits, trained workers, and they're briefed on remote/regional issues. If your payment is cut off or on hold, ring this number first.
