What to do: Apply to the Victorian Housing Register (VHR) online at housing.vic.gov.au, or get help with the form at Swan Hill Neighbourhood House or Mallee Housing Network. Tick the Aboriginal identifier box for priority access. Bring income evidence and ID.
One application to the Victorian Housing Register covers all community housing providers, including Housing Choices. Priority access for Aboriginal applicants means your application is processed in the fast track. Ask for help with the form if you need it — it's long.

How to access this service
Who can use it: People who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or escaping family violence
What to do: Phone MASP directly in business hours. If you're homeless tonight after 5pm or on weekends, ring Opening Doors on 1800 825 955 — they arrange emergency accommodation across Victoria. Aboriginal clients can ask for an Aboriginal worker.
MASP is the main homelessness service for the Mallee. They work with Aboriginal people and can co-work with MDAS / Djirra / VACCA where there's family violence or child protection involvement. Ask about their Aboriginal Housing Pathway.

How to access this service
Who can use it: Anyone renting in Victoria — private, public, or community housing
What to do: Ring the advice line or use the web chat. Have your lease and any notices with you. For tribunal (VCAT) hearings, they can send written advice or refer you to a duty lawyer. Aboriginal renters can also ring VALS for legal representation.
If you've been served a notice to vacate or the landlord won't fix something, ring Tenants Victoria before you agree to anything. Most landlord notices have strict rules they must follow — if they got it wrong, the notice is invalid. Free and fast advice.
